Houseboat KSEnia

CC Bäuml Projekt

It's Monday, early evening, on the KSE company premises in the industrial park near Eichenzell-Welkers. Two cranes are in position, and our managing director and heavy-haulage expert, Volker Bäuml, is directing the unusual cargo via radio. The Schleichers' dream, weighing several tons, is hanging from six slings. Or rather, it's about to hang. The first attempt is a bit snagged—a terrifying moment. But the men remain calm, put their heads together. Adjustments are made. Then, finally: the 15 by 5-meter houseboat lifts, centimeter by centimeter. Relief for everyone involved.

The trailer of a heavy-duty transporter is driven underneath the boat. Millimeter by millimeter, the two crane operators lower the precious cargo. They are controlling a lifelong dream weighing 14 tons. Everyone present is looking intently underneath the boat. Does it fit? Yes. It worked. Relief: the houseboat KSEnia has been successfully loaded after three and a half hours.

That same night, the ship departs for Maintal. A crane arrives at the harbor at seven o'clock on Wednesday morning. Due to the limited space, an even larger crane is needed. This also works out well. Shortly after nine o'clock, the KSEnia is floating on the Main River. "I'm incredibly happy," says Klaus Schleicher, the owner. Now it's time to set up the boat.
